Autonomous AI bug fixing

Fix Software Bugs Through Governed Autonomous Engineering

How does Nexus govern AI bug fixing?

Nexus treats bug fixing as a bounded software delivery: reproduce the defect, map it to exact repository state, implement a candidate repair, run deterministic checks, independently review the exact SHA and integrate only through governed authority. Nexus is the wider engineering control plane, not the Remedy incident-detection product.

01

Start with reproducible evidence

An AI bug fixer is only as reliable as the defect evidence and verification path it receives. Nexus can coordinate investigation and repair tasks while preserving the issue context, repository baseline and acceptance criteria.

The aim is not to make the smallest plausible patch. It is to connect the observed failure to a change whose effect can be tested.

  • Reproduction or failing assertion
  • Exact baseline commit
  • Bounded repair hypothesis
  • Regression and acceptance gates
02

Review the repair, not its explanation

The builder produces a candidate commit and evidence bundle. A separate review role inspects the exact SHA, challenges assumptions and records findings.

If the repair is incomplete, Nexus routes it into remediation. The failed attempt remains part of project memory instead of disappearing with a chat session.

03

Nexus and Remedy have different scopes

Nexus is an autonomous software engineering platform for governed planning, implementation, review and integration across product work. Remedy is the separate AI Bug Fixer and software remediation product focused on incidents from report through verified fix.

Nexus can govern bug-fixing work, but the products should not be presented as interchangeable categories.
